Feeling like getting spooky this halloween? Try making some boo-nanas, mand-o-lanterns or creepy cookies. These halloween creations are spooky as well as nutritious and delicious!
Makes: 12 cookies, 4 boo-nanas and 2 mand-o-lanterns

Ingredients
Boo-nanas
- 2 bananas
- 12 dark choc chips or 4 currents and 4 choc chips
Mand-o-lantins
- 2 mandarins
- 2 slithered almonds
Spooky spider cookies
- 1½ bananas
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup oats
- ½ cup desiccated coconut
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- ¼ cup cocoa
- Almond slithers, for decorating
- Decoration pearls or white choc chips, for decorating
Directions
Boo-nanas
- Peel and cut bananas in half
- Add choc chips and/or currents for the ghost’s face
Mand-o-lantins
- Peel mandarins carefully to keep them whole
- Press a slithered almond into the top of the mandarin for the stalk
Spooky spider cookies
- Preheat oven to 180°C and line a tray with baking paper
- Add all ingredients (excluding ingredients for decorating) into a blender and blend until smooth. Mixture should come together to form a dough. You may need to add a dash of water if mixture is too dry
- Using a heaped teaspoon roll mixture into small balls and place on baking tray
- Decorate with almond slivers for legs and decoration pearls or white choc chips for eyes
- Bake in the oven until almond slithers are toasted, about 8-10 minutes
- Allow to cool on baking tray
Notes
Add some extra taste and texture to the boo-bananas by rolling the bananas in coconut.
Try making frozen boo-nanans by placing the half banana onto the icy-pole stick. Roll banana in yoghut and place on a lined baking tray. Cafeully attach the choc chip/current face before freezing for at least a couple of hours. Enjoy like an icy-pole.
You can make the spider cookies as bliss balls, slimply pop in the fridge instead of baking them
